Welcome to Ysgol Bro Gwydir
Welcome to the website of Ysgol Bro Gwydir.
The school was built in 1896 and has benefited from recent renovations. There are 12 classrooms as well as purpose developed learning areas for creative, digital, health and well-being activities. We are fortunate that we have a school hall with excellent facilities for physical education and dining. The Nursery School is located on the school site, with a breakfast club and childminding club held outside school hours. The school has an extensive playground, forest adventure park, playing field, multi-purpose sports court and a large school garden, all of which are regularly used in the school curriculum and for extra-curricular experiences.
Our vision is to ensure that everyone does their very best to be adventurous and ambitious. Our inclusive curriculum will empower children to develop creative skills, and ignite curiosity for learning.
We are proud of the Welshness and culture of our local area and we are committed to instilling pride in the Welsh language. As a Welsh School, the emphasis is on fostering knowledge and understanding of Welsh culture and mastering fluency in the Welsh Language. Bilingualism is an integral part of school life.
We are proud of the school's high standards of achievement, and the wide range of extracurricular activities is important to us, with pupils experiencing success in various areas from the Urdd's eisteddfodau to sporting activities.
We also believe that we can only achieve the best for your child by close cooperation between home and school. There will be opportunities for you to share in your child’s education and the staff and I are always available to talk with you about any aspects of your child’s development.
It is hoped that the information in this website will inform you about the philosophy and organisation of the school and promote close cooperation and a meaningful connection between the school and the home. This partnership is very important and by working together, we can help each child to do the best of their ability.
